Below is a list of frequently asked about topics updated to reflect the 2017-2018 school year. Please reach out to your child’s case manager with any additional questions.

Bell Schedule: Our bell schedule has changed this year! Click this link for the updated copy: http://www.mpsaz.org/rmhs/files/bell_schedule_8-1-17.pdf  This year we will be offering “Lion Time” every day during second hour with the exception of Wednesday. These periods will be extra long. If your child attends any type of resource or general education class, this time is ideal to get caught up on classwork and attend tutoring time with those teachers.

Attendance: If your child will be absent for the day, please call attendance at 480-472-8010 to inform them.

Transportation: If your student utilizes AM and/or PM transportation through special education transportation services, the process will be the same as in years past and transportation should be contacting you regarding your child’s route information. If you would like additional information on your child’s route number, pick up/drop off time, pick up/drop off location, etc. please reach out to transportation at this number: 480-472-8950.

Laptops: This year we are continuing with our 1:1 technology program here at Red Mountain. Each student is offered a Lenovo laptop to check out for the year. This is not mandatory, but recommended, as may teachers utilize these in their instruction. We will be sending out more info on this the first week of school including new checkout forms, insurance information, etc.

Lunch: Our students eat lunch in the cafeteria each day with their peers along with the support of our instructional assistants. Our assistants are available to assist our students in ordering lunch, carrying the food to the table, opening food items, bathroom breaks, and general supervision. Lunch begins each day at 12:24, however we bring our students down about 15 minutes early to beat the lines and have that extra time to get situated and eat. You have the option to send a lunch with your child each day or have them purchase lunch at school. You can add money to your student’s account by dropping off cash or a check to the RM cafeteria, or by loading money onto their account via the “My School Bucks” program online. We recommend this method as it is very convenient; you can sign into the account to load money via debit/credit card, and also check the balance. Here is the link to the RM cafeteria where you can find all of the information on payment, “My School Bucks”, student lunch menus, etc. http://www.mpsaz.org/rmhs/services/cafeteria/  *NOTE: In the past we have been fortunate to partner with the RM cafeteria and our workplace skills classes to earn a free lunch for our students as a reward for helping them clean the cafeteria after lunch. We’ve done this program for many years and unfortunately had to end that partnership at the end of the 2016/17 school year. We will no longer be assisting in cafeteria cleaning for the upcoming school year.

Snacks: Please feel free to send in a daily snack for your child if they would like one as they are not provided at school. We also recommend sending a reusable water bottle to refill throughout the day.

Supplies: General recommended supplies include a backpack, pencils, and a folder for work going home. Each teacher may require an additional supply based on their classroom and will notify the first week of school if that is the case.

Student Schedules: If you would like to request a schedule change or have general questions regarding your child’s schedule, please reach out to their case manager.

Health Office: If your child needs to be administered medication while at school, please contact Nurse Lynae at 480-472-8040.
