Welcome to Anatomy & Physiology
This course offers an introduction to the structure and function of the human body. Emphasis is placed on the interrelationships between the structure and function of the body.
The following topics will be covered throughout the year: organization of the body/anatomical terminology, tissues and the integumentary system, skeletal system, muscle physiology, muscular system, digestive system, nervous system, endocrine system and special senses, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, immune and lymphatic systems, reproductive system, and urinary system.
Dissections and labs are an integral part of this course. Students will get hands on experience that will enhance their learning and understanding of the body and how it works.
Students are encouraged to use practice websites to help them study and prepare for tests and quizzes. The links below are a few good resources for them.

Dual Enrollment - Anatomy and Physiology is offered as a dual enrollment course through Mesa Community College. Students are not required to take the class for dual enrollment, but they have the opportunity to earn college credit while taking the class in high school. It is a 4 credit course titled BIO 160 - Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology. Registration information and deadlines are in the dual enrollment links on the left.
Canvas - This is where your coursework will be done during online learning. It includes modules for each body system. Students can access notes, assignments, practice websites, video clips, animations, etc. There is a link available on the left.
Synergy - This is the online gradebook. Please make sure to check your grades regularly. There is a link available on the left.
