Information about Lice (From the Health Office)

Head lice is common in the United States among children age 3 to 12 years of age; approximately 6 to 12 million children get head lice every year.  Head lice are equal opportunity parasites; they do not respect socio-economic class distinctions. Their presence does not indicate a lack of hygiene.  Head lice are mainly acquired by direct head-to-head contact with an infested person's hair. Neither able to fly nor jump, lice have claws that allow them to cling firmly to hair.  Parents should examine their child’s head, especially behind the ears and at the nape of the neck, if a child exhibits symptoms of lice. Treatment should be considered only when active lice or viable eggs are observed.  Head lice are not known to transmit disease, so are not considered a health problem.  For more information go to MPS Health Services web site, America Academy of Pediatrics or call the Health Office.

Traffic Signs on Raftriver

Please note that there are signs posted on Raftriver that say "No Stopping, Standing, Parking from 7:30-3:30pm on School Days Only". Between the posted sign and the entrance into RMRE, cars are not to be stopped in that area between 7:30-3:30. This allows for cars to pass safely along Raftriver during pick up time at the end of the day. If you pick your child up from school, please make sure you are stopped before the sign to avoid unsafe traffic situations. We appreciate your help with this. As always, if there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the office.
