Below is a listing of helpful sites to visit. Scroll through this page and find the subject area you are looking for. A brief description is noted by each link to help you find the "perfect" site for what you are looking for.

 

MATHEMATICS

  • Math textbook online - No more overloaded backpacks! This is the site where students can have complete access to their math textbook online. You will need log-in information from me to access this site.
  • Math-A-Tube - It is like the popular You-Tube site, but just for math! The videos used on this site are created by teachers and are a lot of fun to watch. Very helpful when you are stuck on a math problem.
  • Math is Fun! - This is a great resource for math questions as well as math practice. This site also includes some really fun games!
  • Cool math games - This site has some great "thinking" and problem solving games and puzzles. Great way to give your brain a workout!

READING

  • AR Books - Not sure if the book you have at home is an AR book? Check out this site and it will tell you if it is, how many points it is worth, and what level it is.
  • Reading textbook - This is not the entire textbook online, but it does have some great activities that go with our weekly stories and the reading skills students are learning in class.

WRITING

  • Help with Writing - This site breaks down the 6-traits of writing and gives helpful hints on how to improve your writing skills.
  • Cursive practice sheets - This site allows students to print pages to practice both upper and lower case letters. Scroll down toward the bottom of the page and simply click on the letter you want to practice. Click the print button and you are ready to practice your cursive!

SCIENCE

  • Biology for Kids - This is an interactive site for students to learn more about biology. Very informative!
  • NASA for Kids - A great and entertaining site that teaches students about space. Very up-to-date information on the space program.
  • Planet Information - Learn everything you need to know about our solar system. A colorful and fun site to explore the planets.

TYPING

  • Dance Mat - This is the site most used by students at school in computer lab for typing practice.

GENERAL

  • Encyclopedia Britanica - This is offered free to students of MPS. You will have access to the entire encyclopedia series online! You will need a username and password from me to access the site.
  • Online DIctionary - Great way to quickly have access to a dictionary if you don't have one handy at home.
  • Online Thesaurus - Need to find a synonym or an antonym for a word? Quick and easy to use resource to help you find more colorful words for your writing.
