Mrs. WaNani Vaitafa, M.S., CCC-SLP
My name is WaNani Vaitafa. I am of Samoan and Viking descent. I am originally from Boise, Idaho. I moved to Mesa in 1993 and went to Mesa Public Schools from 4th-12th grade (Webster, Carson, Westwood "WAR EAGLE!!"). My husband (Tevita), son (Takavaha), and our puppy (Lady) love to camp, travel, and try new foods from around the world.
I have worked for Mesa Public Schools in the field of communication for the past nine years. I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors in Family Studies and Child Development, Bachelors in Speech and Hearing Science, and a Masters in Communication Disorders. I have experience working with Apraxia, phonological disorders, expressive and receptive language disorders, as well as AAC.
I have a passion for working with young learners. I love to incorporate cultural and familial norms in therapy. Students thrive when they have a great relationship with their educators. Building relationships of trust and understanding are the corner stone of my therapy philosophy.
