Hello! I am the resource teacher for children in grades 5 and 6 at Roosevelt Elementary. This is my sixth year as a teacher even though I have been at Roosevelt for years. I started as a volunteer in 2000 when my boys were in kindergarten. In 2005, I became an Instructional Assistant. Now, I am very proud to be a teacher here at Roosevelt Elementary!
I have been working with children in various settings since 1993 and graduated from Arizona State University in 1994 with a BAE in Special Education. After I graduated, I was promptly put on bed-rest with my twins and then spent the next few years being a mom. From 1993 to 2014, I also tutored children and taught adults with disabilities how to become more independent.
I strongly believe that everyone has the ability to learn. I also realize that everyone learns at an individualized pace. With hard work and dedication, all children can reach their full potential. In my classroom we have a saying that sums up that belief: Be the best that you can be!
If children can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.
