Hello and welcome to my Kindergarten class! My name is Virginia Duke and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with both you and your child! This year will be my fourth year teaching Kindergarten at Roosevelt. I graduated, with honors, from Northern Arizona University with my degree in Elementary Education. I have also earned my Early Childhood Endorsement as well as my Structured English Immersion Endorsement from NAU. I have spent time teaching 1st grade as well as substituting in classrooms ranging from kindergarten all the way to high school. With this wide range of experience I can say with confidence that kindergarten is my favorite grade! It has been my experience that kindergarten students have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and a desire to learn about the world and how it works. Kindergarten students are enthusiastic, loving and work as hard as they play. I can’t wait to help your child navigate through the world of knowledge this year. It will be an amazing privilege and adventure!
I am an Arizona girl and I have lived all over this beautiful state. I was born and raised in Nogales Arizona with my 4 brothers, 1 sister and amazing parents. I attended Jr. College in Thatcher Arizona before moving to Flagstaff to attend NAU. I student taught in Show Low Arizona and moved back home to Nogales to teach for a few years. I have lived in Mesa now for 4 years and I absolutely love it!
I look forward to meeting you, your family, and your student. I know that we are going to make a great team this year. As we move forward as partners in your child’s education, the happiness, health and learning of your child will be ensured. I have found that when parents and teachers work together, amazing things can happen. We here at Roosevelt know that “Success is for everyone, and the responsibility is ours.”
Please feel free to call me, email me, or stop by the classroom for a conference if you ever have any questions or concerns. I will always do my utmost to respect your time and get back to you as soon as possible. I know we are going to have a splendid year!
