Hello! My name is Andrea Susanto and I am very excited to be apart of the 3rd and 4th grade team at Salk Elementary. This will be my 2nd semester at Salk.
I was born in Chicago, Illinois and lived there until the 3rd grade when I moved to Leawood, Kansas. Before 8th grade, my family moved to Arizona and I have been here ever since. In my free time I enjoy traveling, watching the AZ Cardinals, boxing, and spending time with my friends and family. I recently graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. Although this is my first year teaching, I have had four years of practicum and student teaching experience at various schools (1st grade through 6th grade) in Tempe, Mesa, and Gilbert school districts.
My teaching philosophy can be summed up by the following quote; "If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way that they learn." It is my belief that every child can learn and as an educator it is my job to create engaging and differentiated lessons for my students. Due to my philosophy, I always try to incorporate hands on activities, the arts, visuals, and movement within my lessons.
Communication is the key to success which is why I have an "open door" policy! If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at school before 7:40 am or after 2:15 pm. I look forward to a great semester with you and your child!
Graduation day with some amazing friends and educators! (I am in the front row, black hair)
I love spending time with my mom and two sisters!
