Biography

Welcome to the Third Grade at Salk Elementary School! My name is Andrew Fotsch, and this is my 20th year teaching in an elementary setting.  I am proud to say that I am a product of Mesa Public Schools having attended Westwood High School.  (Go Warriors!)  After graduating Westwood, I enrolled at the University of Arizona where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Spanish. After graduating, I worked for one year as a teaching assistant at Eisenhower Elementary School in Mesa before joining the national teacher corps, Teach For America (TFA). My TFA placement was as a Third Grade teacher in our nation's capital where I taught there for a total of five years. I subsequently earned my Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education degree from Trinity University (Washington, DC). I then relocated to the Boston area where I taught Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Grades in several settings, including public, charter and private schools. In the summer of 2015 my family and I decided to relocate to my home state of Arizona, which is how I came to Salk Elementary. I currently live in Gilbert with my wife, Hillary, two children, Tyler (age 7) and Charlotte (age 4), and a dog named Lucy.
