Philosophy
"Scientific literacy is the knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts and processes required for personal decision making, participation in civic and cultural affairs, and economic productivity."
National Science Education Standards p 22

The scientifically literate person is one who posess an inquiring mind, understands, uses and has a positive attitude toward science. All students must have the opportunity to become scientifically literate and have a sound knowledge base of scientific concepts, systems and process skills which enables individuals to become positivecontributors to society and productive members of the work force.
