literacy is the knowledge and understanding of scientific
concepts and processes required for personal decision making,
participation in civic and cultural affairs, and economic
productivity."
National Science Education Standards p 22
The scientifically literate person is one who posess an inquiring
mind, understands, uses and has a positive attitude toward
science. All students must have the opportunity to become
scientifically literate and have a sound knowledge base of
scientific concepts, systems and process skills which enables
individuals to become positivecontributors to society and
productive members of the work force. |
