Biography

I am originally from Newcastle, Australia and emigrated to the United States back during the Bicentennial (1976). What an interesting time to be transplanted as a 12 year old into a totally different culture! Public school was an adventure! I spent the remainder of my youth in New Jersey until my wife and I moved to Arizona in 1995.  We have five children ranging from 27 to 9 years old. We have three black belts in the family with the two youngest moving up the ranks quickly. My eldest graduated from Westwood, another from Mountain View, one is currently a Junior at Mountain View and my two boys are here at Kerr Elementary.

I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education/History from
Kean University in New Jersey. I have a masters degree in Special Education/Cross-Category from Chapman University. I also have another masters degree in Education/Inclusion from the University of New England, and I recently completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Positive Behavior Support from Northern Arizona University.

This is my 21st year teaching. I began in a private special education school for the behaviorally challenged before getting a job with Mesa Public Schools. Kerr Elementary is a very special neighborhood school, and I am honored and humbled each and every day helping to facilitate your child's learning.

I enjoy spending time with my family, especially vacations to Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point), Mexico. When I'm not listening to Santana, Led Zeppelin, or The Beatles on Pandora Radio, I'm usually watching soccer, or playing golf, or riding my motorcycle. I've met Tommy Chong, painted Whitney Houston's house, sang "Maggie May" with two friends at Madison Square garden, interrupted the great Pele for an autograph during an interview and literally ran into mafia boss Paul Castellano two months before he was gunned down in New York City. I'm constantly reminded that life can always be interesting if you're in the right place at the right time!
