A classroom environment conducive for optimal learning requires each individual student to be responsible for their behavior. The desired classroom behaviors that will be encouraged, evaluated, and included as part of the student participation grade are listed below.
It is also understood that all school rules will be followed in this classroom as outlined in the Mesa Public School Guidelines for Student Behavior and the Shepherd Junior High Student Handbook. Infractions of the above behaviors may require conferences involving teacher, student, parents, counselors, and the administration or any combination of the above.
The nine-week grade will be determined by tests, projects, and study skills activities. Grades will be assigned as follows:
90% - 100% = A, 80% - 89% = B, 70% - 79% = C, 60% - 69% = D
Parents are encouraged to check their student's grade online. Surf to http://www.rredware.com/smreports.asp and enter the student's Username and password. Students were given this information to take home.
The assignment due the day missed and arrangements for any missed homework, quizzes, and tests must be completed within two school days. Exceptions will be made for extended illnesses or family emergencies. It is the student's responsibility to make up all work missed during any absence. The computer lab is usually open before and after school (except Wednesday mornings and when I must attend meetings). Please plan ahead. I will list the times I will not be available in the computer lab on the blackboard.
It is occasionally necessary for a substitute teacher to be in the classroom. It is extremely important for all students to cooperate with the substitute teacher. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated and will be dealt with severely upon my return. Assignments resulting from a student's absence should never be turned in to a substitute, turn in assignments only to the teacher.
