Ms. Teresa Mazzurco
HI! My name is Teresa Mazzurco and I am the teacher for the Autism Program at Shepherd. I have been in the field of Special Education since 1998, beginning as a Teacher's Assistant at Developmental Disabilities Institute in Smithtown, N.Y. I worked my way up to Therapy Assistant, working one on one with students with more challenging needs. Soon, I was offered my own classroom in 2000 and have been teaching since.
I moved to Arizona from Long Island, N.Y. in the summer of 2003, beginning my Arizona experience working with high school aged children with Special Needs at Alexander's Abilities in Mesa. Soon, I was working as a teacher at ACCELSchool, formerly LATCH School. I was at ACCEL for three years, teaching a classroom of students with diverse needs, before coming to Mesa.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y., and a Master of Science in Special Education from Dowling College in Oakdale, N.Y.
I look forward to starting the year off and seeing new faces! :)
