Welcome! My name is Valerie Chiappetta and I will be your child’s kindergarten teacher this year. I am looking forward to an exciting, productive year working with your child and you. Kindergarten is an important year and I hope to make your child feel extra special. This will be my fourteenth year teaching. I have taught young learners kindergarten, kindergarten, and first grade. I have been committed to the importance of parent involvement in a student’s education. I firmly believe that your child will receive the best education possible when you and I work as a team. After the first week of school, I will be sending home a copy of my discipline plan. It will discuss student expectations in the classroom.
School hours are 7:40-2:15 with early release on Wednesday at 1:15. The cafeteria is open at 7:15 a.m. for breakfast. Student supervision on campus begins at 7:30 a.m. on the kindergarten playground. It is important that your child arrives to school on time.
Backpacks need to fit into cubbies-standard size without wheels. Please no pencil boxes-we supply containers for crayons, pencils, glue, etc. Students will be allowed to bring water bottles to class. Please write your child’s name on their bottle. We will have a short break during our day for a snack, drink, and bathroom.
Starting the New Experience:
Your child will be excited and nervous and this is to be expected. Encourage your child to talk about school activities. The children adjust quickly to school routines. Kindergarten is an exciting year and I’m looking forward to teaching your child! I assure you that I will do my best to see that your child has an interesting, challenging, and fun year. Feel free to contact me when you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks for all your help in a great year,
