FAFSA Night (& What to Bring!)- Tues. Oct. 22, 6-7:30 PM
The workshop will be held Tuesday, October 22nd from 6:00-7:30pm in the Career Center.
Families will be able to come and complete their FAFSA.
- Have your student bring their laptop or bring your own, along with your 2018 taxes and W-2s, other financial information (i.e. 2018 records of untaxed income, current information on bank balances, investments, etc), and social security numbers or alien registration number if you are not a U.S. Citizen.
- Please visit the Federal Student Aid website if you have questions. The FAFSA will open October 1. The FAFSA site offers several resources to answer questions. There is also a glossary that provides information on various college and financial aid terms.
- Be sure to create an FSA ID before the workshop. Both the student and one parent needs to create an FSA ID. The FSA ID is what you will use to electronically sign your FAFSA. The verification process for the FSA ID can take up to 3 days so please complete the FSA ID process as soon as possible.
To create an FSA ID, go to fsaid.ed.gov and click on the Create an FSA ID tab. You will need to enter the information requested on each section. Be sure to use a separate email address for students and parents, and that you have access to those emails. We recommend that students not use their MPS student email address since they will need access to the email address during college. Please also review your entries for accuracy and enter your name as it appears on your Social Security Card.
