Bachelor's of Science in Special Education- Illinois State University 1993
After graduation I taught students with intellectual and physical disabilities from 1993-1999. Upon moving to Arizona I worked in Phoenix at the Upward Foundation Day School for 2 years with students with severe intellectual disabilities. It was a wonderful experience but I secretly longed to find a job in the east valley as the commute was over 75 miles a day. In 2002 I was hired at Mesa Public Schools and worked at SHARP School for 13 years. In 2015 there was an opening at Skyline HS for the SID program. I had been longing to return to the SID classroom as that is where my heart is. Time has really gone fast as I am beginning my 27th year in education and my sixth year at Skyline.
I grew up in the southern suburbs of Chicago. My family moved out here in 2000 to be closer to our parents. We absolutely enjoy living out here in the valley of the sun and do not miss the cold and snowy winters of Chicago. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, 2 daughters, and our dog, Bagel the beagle. I also enjoy reading, playing games, and volunteering with AZ Beagle Rescue.
