Sra. Corina Beltran
Hola! I am Sra. Beltran. Welcome to my class, Spanish II. Let me tell you a little about my self. I was born in Ventura, Oxnard in California, but moved to Arizona when I was five years old. I have lived in Arizona most of my life so I consider myself a native. I come from a family of nine. I have 2 grown children and 8 grandchildren. I am married to a wonderful man, and in our spare time we love to exercise and go dancing.
This year I am teaching just Spanish II, Spanish III and Dual Enrollment Spa III. I have been teaching for 21 years. I love the Spanish language and the culture so much that I wanted to share it with students. I went to ASU and earmed my Bachelors in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Spanish. Then earned my Masters in Secondary Education with and emphasis in Bilingual Spanish/ ESL through NAU. I taught at Aprende Middle School in Awatukee and I also taught at Poston Jr. High School for a couple of years. I enjoy teaching and I am proud to be a part of Skyline High School. Before I became a certified teacher, I worked with MPS as an ESL technician for 10 years. I helped teach non-English speaking students from all over the world English.
Note To Parents and Students: I offer tutoring after school by appointment only for students. I have meetings to attend at times and I may not be available on certain days for tutoring. I will let the student know when it will be a better time if I can not tutor. Students can still pop in anytime even if he/she doesn't have an appointment to ask for any help if I am in my classroom during that time, I will be happy to help with assignments. I give extra credit points for the tutoring and I give a small quiz for comprehension. I am hoping to see more students take advantage of this opportunity especially if he/she is struggling to pass the class.
Students should be studying their vocabulary words for at least 20 minutes Monday through Friday. Note cards are helpful and useful for studying. Students will always have Spanish vocabulary words every week. This year students can get on Quizlet online to help review vocabulary words as well.
