Mr Gordon Andrus has been teaching instrumental music (mostly orchestra) for the past thirty plus years. He received an Associate of Science Degree from Snow College, a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Weber State University, and a Master of Music Degree from  Brigham Young University. He also completed most of the course work for a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Arizona.

Mr. Andrus was named String Teacher of The Year in Utah’s Davis County School District. He was named Player of the Year on both trumpet and violin at Snow College. Is a member of Who’s Who in American Jr. Colleges. While working in Mesa at Westwood High School, the month of March 1992 was proclaimed as “Westwood Symphony Month” by the Honorable Fife Symington, Governor of Arizona. He wrote in that declarative proclamation that: “. . . under the direction of Gordon Andrus, the orchestra has received nothing but great success, critical acclaim and superior commendations.” In 2006 I was nominated to be included in the “Biltmore Who’s Who among Executives and Professional Men.” He served as a Region Governor for the North Central Region for many, many years.  

Mr. Andrus served as Associate Conductor of the Nebo Youth Symphony and the Utah Valley Youth Symphony. He also founded and was Music Director and Principle Conductor of the Bountiful Utah Symphony Orchestra. In New Mexico, he served as Concert Master of the San Juan Symphony Orchestra and was Music Director and Principle Conductor of a professional string orchestra called The San Juan Strings. In Arizona he was Associate Director of the San Marcos Symphony Orchestra (now the Chandler Symphony) for twelve years, he co-founded, was Vice President of the board of directors, and Music Director and Principle Conductor of the Southwest Youth Symphony. Mrs Andrus was Associate Director of the Arizona Mormon Choir and Orchestra. He served as Guest Conductor for the AMEA Northwest Region Honor Orchestra and the Northeast Region Honor Orchestra, and Guest Clinician and Conductor of the Southern California Band and Orchestra Directors Association’s San Bernardino County Honor Orchestra. Currently Mr. Andrus is the orchestra instructor for the Chandler-Gilbert Community College; Smith Jr. High School, and Skyline High School.
