Hello, Coyotes!! My name is Mr. John Kagy. This is my first year teaching and first year here at Skyline High School. I am excited to be part of the best kept secret here in the Mesa Public Schools District. Who am I, you might ask? You might say I am a Jack of all trades. I am into anything and everything. My interests range form ancient history and anthropology to archaeology to technology. My main passion though, is science.

I am originally from Southern California where I earned a Bachelor of Arts from Cal State Long Beach in anthropology. After graduating, I pursued elementary education and student taught in the Norwalk La Mirada School District for a semester. While I enjoyed my short time teaching elementary school, I my true passion is teaching science, so I packed up and moved to Tucson where I received a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from the University of Arizona. The following semester I moved 100 miles North to Mesa to pursue my master’s degree in secondary education at Arizona State University. I spent the 2016-2017 school year interning and student teaching here in the Mesa district. In the Fall of 2016, I taught biology and marine biology with Mr. Thomas Demassa at Red Mountain High School. In the Spring of 2017, I student taught 7th grade science with Ms. Allison McIntosh at Rhodes Jr High.

I am super excited to begin my teaching career at Skyline. I will do my best to make it a fun and engaging classroom. In both general science and biology, there will be opportunities for students to really explore and discover a wide variety of science concepts. I am looking forward to a great year. Fear the Howl!!
