Mr. Jesse Ruiz
Hello fellow staff, students, and parents. My name is Jesse Ruiz and I am currently teaching AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, and Honors Pre-Calculus at Skyline High School. In the past years I have taught Physics, Honors Algebra 2, and College Algebra/Trigonometry.
I am a Mesa Public School alumni having gone to Irving Elementary to Taylor Junior High and finishing out at Mesa High School. I went on to pursue one of my favorite passions, film and TV. I went to Scottsdale Community College to pursue a degree in Film. After 2 years, I switched my major to explore my math and science passion. I continued to get my Associates in Science at SCC. I moved on to Arizona State University to get my Bachelors degree in Physics. During my last two years of my degree, I enjoyed being a TA for earlier physics courses and loved the experience. This love for teaching led me to pursue another degree in Education. I stayed at ASU and got my Masters in Education. After 20 years of continuous schooling, I retired from the student side of the spectrum and made way to becoming a teacher. After my first year of teaching I had the urge to continue learning and went back to ASU to continue college and work towards getting dual-enrollment certified. I completed my second Master's degree at ASU in the Master's of Natural Science (MNS) program to continue my education in both the fields of physics and education.
My experience in teaching is vast and includes a variety of settings. At ASU I was helping groups of students during class, 1 on 1 time during office hours, and presenting labs during lab time. I student taught for a full year at both Fremont Junior High and Skyline High School. I am currently starting my 5th year and I'm ready to start another great year! I am sponsor for the Film Critique Club and co-sponsor to the Physics and Astronomy Club.
