Hello! My name is Katherine Shaw. I am excited to be teaching Sophomore English and Advanced Placement Language and Composition at Skyline. I'm originally from Denver, Colorado and have lived in various places in the U.S. and abroad. I have lived in Berlin, Germany and, most recently taught English as a Foreign Language for two years in a southern province in Thailand. I am so grateful for the support from all my Thai friends and colleagues for teaching me the language and culture while I taught English.
I have a Masters in Secondary Education from Arizona State University as well as two Bachelor's degrees from Drake University, one in Journalism and Mass Communication and one in English Creative Writing.
I love traveling and running. I've completed six half marathons and will be running my seventh in February 2018. I hope to run the Ragnar trail race in Arizona next year as well.
One of my favorite clubs on campus, Key Club, is dedicated to serving Skyline and the community through service learning. As part of the Superstition Division of Key Club, sponsored by Superstition Kiwanis, we are dedicated to making a positive impact in our community through leadership and service. Want to join Key Club? Join us in the orchestra room (741) on Thursdays at 7:10 am. Be sure to also fill out our membership form: https://goo.gl/forms/ufd286lOxNYptbiL2 .
