Mr. Kevin Kitani

Dear Parents:

I’m pleased to be able to teach your child science this year.  Ninth grade science is a full-year laboratory course which includes topics in astronomy, physics, chemistry, and environmental sciences.  Learning objectives align with the Arizona Science Standard, with specific objectives for each unit located in the student’s notebook.

Many of the activities and laboratory experiences require the use of specific materials.  Listed below are the materials that your son or daughter needs to bring to class each day to be successful in 9th grade science.

·        calculator

·        colored pencils

·        composition notebook

·        Glue stick

·        large eraser

·        pencils (& extra lead, if mechanical)

·        red pen (for grading)

Please contact me if assistance is needed to obtain materials.

Specific class information is contained in the Classroom Guidelines for 9th Grade Science which your student will receive the first week of school and will keep in his/her notebook. The Guidelines can also be viewed on my district website.   To help us effectively communicate this year, I would appreciate it if you would complete reverse side of the attached student information form.  Your son or daughter is responsible to complete the front side.  The due date for completion is Friday the 13th of August.

I hope learning science is a very rewarding experience for your child.  Please encourage   your son or daughter to talk with me if he/she has any concerns, and to come in for additional help if needed.  Tutoring schedules, make-up work, and other class information can be also found on my website.  I encourage you to check it out.  Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. The best time to reach me is in the morning from 7:15-7:45 a.m.

Sincerely,
