A Little About Me:
I was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. Upon graduating from Mesa High School, I attended Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri, where I received 2 associate degrees. Then I attended the University of Arizona, where I obtained a Bachelors in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics. I was exposed to research at U of A and fell in love with science. My thesis was on volatile organic compounds as signals in a plant-herbivore system, but my real passion remained in DNA and the application of science in the justice system. Thus, I planned on pursuing a career in forensics and continued my education at Arizona State University and received a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. This may seem odd, but in forensics it is important to be able to explain scientific information when testifying in court, hence the education degree. As part of my degree requirements, I student taught at Chandler High School. It was here that I fell in love again, this time with teaching. So here I am, teaching biotechnology at Skyline; blessed to merge both my passions, scientific research and teaching. This will be my 14th year teaching- I am excited and hopeful!
The roots of education are bitter but the fruit is sweet. -Aristotle
