My name is Patrick Dunn, but on campus students refer to me as Mr. Dunn. My focus for the 2021-2022 school year is teaching AP United States History (APUSH), AP Psychology, and AVID for Juniors. I began my teaching career in Gilbert where I had the pleasure of teaching United States History, English and Computers. I joined the best district in the state, Mesa, in 2003 and taught English and Journalism at Shepherd Junior High. I've been teaching in the Social Studies department at Skyline since 2004.

I was born and raised in Nebraska and moved to Colorado where I graduated from Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins. My wife and I moved to Arizona in 1989 and we worked our way through school. I earned my secondary education degree with distinction from Ottawa University with emphasis in history. I have also completed graduate studies in Educational Leadership from NAU and Curriculum and Instruction from ASU.

On a personal note, I am married to my best friend and we have been blessed with two amazing children. Our son is a 2014 graduate of Skyline and 2018 graduate of ASU. Our daughter created her own legacy of excellence at Skyline by graduating at the top of the Class of 2018. She is currently attending ASU. We enjoy golfing, biking and hiking in the spring, summer and fall. In the winter months, we take to the slopes on our skis and snowboards and also enjoy playing Frisbee and basketball. We love to travel during our breaks and make it to Rocky Point, Disneyland and "Our Daisy" in Colorado as often as possible.

I’m always happy to visit with students and parents about their academic progress, the curriculum or any issues they might have as they make their way through the adventure of high school. Please utilize the assignment pages for American History or APUSH to download materials for class and check for due dates. Also, grades are available online in the student/parent portal by accessing www.mpsaz.org/mymps. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me either by phone or email. I look forward to working with your student this year as we continue to create a legacy of excellence!
