Mr. Ryan Myers
Hola! Hello! My name is Ryan Myers and I teach AP and Spanish 2 here at Skyline High School. I am entering my eighteenth year of teaching in the Mesa Public School District. This will be my eleventh year teaching at Skyline. I am the Boys JV Volleyball Coach. I have also Coached the Girls Varsity Basketball Team and was the Varsity Asst to the Girls Volleyball Team.
My first seven years of teaching were at Rhodes Jr. High. I taught Intro to Spanish, Spanish 1, and Spanish 2. At Rhodes I coached the Girls Freshman Basketball team where we won the Mesa City title all six years I coached and we went undefeated twice. I left Rhodes with an overall record of 107 wins to only 6 losses. I also coached the Boys and Girls Track and Cross Country teams where we were city runners up several times in Track and we won the Mesa City title in Girls Cross Country once. I enjoyed my teaching and coaching experiences at Rhodes and they prepared me for the jump to the High School.
This year I am excited about teaching AP and Spanish 2. Having lived in a foreign country for two years, I know the advantage of speaking another language and how important it is in a Global world. I hope to create that excitement and desire for all my students.
I was born and raised in Indiana. I attended Huntington North High School and I lettered in several sports. I played Basketball and Football and I ran Cross Country and Track. Following High School I lived in Puerto Rico for two years where I served a mission for my church. When I got back from Puerto Rico I attended Brigham Young University where I obtained a BS in Sociology. I furthered my education and obtained my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and my Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Administrative Leadership from Ottawa University. Having completed those courses and taking the State test I received my Principal certification.
I have a son who just graduated Law School at ASU. He wants to do Sport or Corporate law. He served a mission in the Adriatic South Mission which was comprised of Albania, Kosovo, and Macedonia. He learned Albanian while he was there and can now speak three languages. He is married to Tea, who is graduated from BYU-I and is working as a social media expert for a local company. I am very excited for them and their upcoming challenges and successes.
In March of 2014 I married Lisa Myers. She teaches 3rd grade at Franklin and Alma Elementary School. We are both teachers so we have a lot in common. We love to travel. This past summer we visited Alabama, where her daughter and her husband lives, to celebrate our Grandson's first Birthday!!
I hope this gives you a better idea of who I am and where I came from. If you ever have any questions please don't ever hesitate to ask! :)
