Mrs. Eva Dwight
Education is a passion for Mrs. Dwight! She decided way back in junior high that she wanted to a) teach high school English, and b) be the next Erma Bombeck. She earned her B.A. in Secondary English from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas and began her career teaching English at the Teenage Mother School in Kansas City, Kansas. Budget cuts sent her on a temporary (she thought) career detour into junior high. Thirty years later, she's still in junior high and wouldn't be anywhere else!
Mrs. Dwight discovered a "c" choice in her life plan so she earned her MEd. in Counseling from the University of Phoenix in 1997, and has been a junior high counselor for the last 19 years. She joined the Smith Jr. High faculty in 2014 and she loves being a Sidewinder! Helping students discover and work toward new possibilities for themselves is exciting stuff!
In addition to her work at Smith, Mrs. Dwight is a certified Positive Discipline educator and an Associate Certified Coach. She teaches parenting classes through Parent University and her parenting articles appear regularly in "The Groves" and "The View" neighborhood newspapers. More recently, she has become a guest author for the national blog allthemoms.com. Here is a link to two of her articles:
While she has not yet risen to the status of Erma Bombeck, the national blog rates as "progress"!
