Hello Sidewinders! My name is Mrs. Krista Sitek and I am excited to be a Smith Sidewinder again this year! This is my 12th year of teaching and is the start of my third year of living in Arizona! I was born and raised in Wisconsin (Go Packers!! :)) and graduated with honors from the highly-rated Physical Education School, the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, with a degree in Physical Education (PreK-12) and a concentration in Adapted Physical Education (Birth-21 years of age). I was selected to represent my graduating class as a state delegate and also was the state's Middle School PE representative as well for two years. In Wisconsin, I was a Physical Education teacher for 9 years teaching Middle School PE, Adapted PE, and also some Elementary PE as well. I am very excited to continue teaching Girls' PE and Weight Training here at Smith and love being able to teach in the neighborhood in which I also live in!
In addition to teaching, I have coached volleyball for 11 years as well as playing collegiately as a setter for the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. In my first two years of teaching, I coached Junior Varsity volleyball and then transitioned to coaching my last 7 years in Wisconsin coaching as the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach for the Division 1 Appleton East High School in Wisconsin. My last two seasons as their coach, our team made it to the State Sectional Finals for Division 1. Since coming to Smith, I have coached the 8th grade volleyball team and look forward to coaching volleyball at Smith again this year!
Outside of teaching and coaching, I love spending time with my husband, Jay and our little fur pup that we rescued (a chihuahua-min pin mix) named Raz! My husband and I are really enjoying exploring this great state of Arizona and are spending a lot of our free time doing just that! We have been doing a lot of hiking (I hiked Havasu Falls this summer!), going to various sporting events (yes we have even been supporting the AZ Cardinals, Diamondbacks, and Coyotes), musicals and just enjoying spending time outside! I also have a passion for Photography and enjoy being a wedding, family, and nature photographer as well in my free time. I spent a lot of time this past summer creating and enhancing my Photography blog.
I really am looking forward to getting to work with each of your daughters this year and have high expectations that all students will be able to reach for their personal successes. I am looking forward to meeting you all as well so please do not hesitate to contact me at any time!
