I graduated from ASU (east coast) - Appalachain State University with a Bachelors degree in Industrial Arts. I have since earned a Masters degree in Educational Technology through the University of Phoenix. I hold a Vocational Certification as well as a SEI endorsment and a Reading Endorsement.
My first teaching job was as the Industrial Arts teacher at Central Middle School in Whiteville, North Carolina where I taught for two years. After this job, I was hired in my home town of Sumter, South Carolina where I taught Industrial Technology at Sumter High School for six years. I also held the position of equipment manager for the Sumter High marching band. I then moved to Phoenix, Arizona and was hired by the Mesa Unified Schools to teach at Rhodes Junior High, Fremont Junior High, and finally helping to open Smith Junior High in 2001. I retired from being the swim team coach for Skyline High school in 2013, but I still enjoy the sport and work with swimming teams any chance I get.
I have enjoyed teaching all ages of students but the junior high student is the level I have appreciated the most. These students are eager to learn and have a zest for life that is contagious. Smith Sidewinders are the best.
