TYPES OF BULLYING

PHYSICAL: Examples include shoving, hitting, kicking, biting, inappropriate touching, and taking or damaging another's belongings.
VERBAL: Examples include teasing, name calling, threats, intimidation, demeaning jokes, rumors and gossip.
EMOTIONAL: Examples include leaving someone out on purpose, telling lies to hurt someone's reputation or humiliating someone publicly.
CYBERBULLYING: Examples include sending mean text messages, posting videos, stories or photos that ridicule someone and spreading rumors through social-networking sites.

WARNING SIGNS OF A BULLIED CHILD

  • Comes home with torn clothing, damaged books.
  • Has bruises and cuts with no logical explanation.
  • Reluctant to go to school, picks a new route to school.
  • Has nightmares, cries in his or her sleep.
  • Grades suffer, loses interest in school.
  • Has mood shifts or outbursts of temper.
  • Requests or steals money to meet the bully's demands.
  • Socially isolated.
