Welcome to first grade!
Hello to all my first grade families! I'm super excited to be teaching in first grade this year.
Here is a little about me and why I decided to become a teacher:
I am a born and raised Arizonan and I grew up in the north phoenix area. I come from a close-knit family and we have always lived near one another. My family came to Arizona 50 years ago when my father got accepted into ASU, so us children were raised to be Sun Devils and naturally we all went to Arizona State University. In 2008, I graduated from ASU with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. In efforts to do something that went along with my degree, I began working with children on the Autism spectrum. Through this career choice, I began to love working with and teach children. I went back to ASU in 2011 and graduated in 2013 with a Master's degree in early childhood education. During those two years, I completed all the masters practicum in the Mesa Public School district. Shortly after graduating I received my first teaching job at Adam's Elementary as a kindergarten teacher. Then continued to teach kindergarten here at Sousa Elementary. This year will be my third year teaching at Sousa Elementary and my fourth/fifth year teaching in Mesa. I'm happy to be back in a first grade classroom and teach your amazing students!
