The SIM mission is broken into three components; Mission Control, Shuttle, and the Space Station. The mission can actively involve up to 40 students in an exciting four hour curriculum experience. The Shuttle and Space Station will comfortably hold eight students each. The remaining students will become a critical part of Mission Control.
The heart of the mission is the Oxygen Units Indicator. Beginning the mission with a full tank of oxygen, students in all three locations must constantly replenish the oxygen tank through the completion of assigned jobs. This sense of urgency gives the mission the feel of a real mission. The standards based activities run the curriculum gamut. SIM is designed primarily for sixth graders but is easily adaptable to any age group, including adults.
