Mission

The Special Education Team commits to creating and refining systems that support learning and social emotional competence at the classroom level. We are relentless in advocating that all students will have an individualized learning experience that prepares them to meet their goals. In our work we are innovative, collaborative, courageous and kind, recognizing relationships matter.

Every student in Mesa Public Schools is known by name, strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career and community. Our Special Education Programs are designed to meet the social, emotional, and academic needs of our students, ensuring their post-secondary readiness and success. The MPS Special Education Department provides educational opportunities for all students with disabilities, ages 3-22. Every student is educated to the maximum extent possible with their nondisabled peers. However, MPS has a variety of special classes that are designed to meet each student's unique needs. These decisions are made on an individual basis, with input from the entire team.
