MPS Promise

Every student in Mesa Public Schools is known by name, served by strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career, and community.

Vision:

Until everyone succeeds!

Mission:

The Special Education Team commits to creating and refining systems that support learning and social emotional competence at the classroom level.

We are relentless in advocating that all students will have an individualized learning experience that prepares them to meet their goals. In our work we are innovative, collaborative, courageous and kind, recognizing relationships matter.

Mesa Public Schools believes that one of the most important aspects of special education services is the role played by parents in the education of their child with special needs. Parents are critical participants in ensuring the long term success of their child. In collaboration with Raising Special Kids, our Special Education Department developed a Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC).

The purpose of the Mesa SEPAC is to enhance the school/family partnership by increasing collaborative communication among parents and all district stakeholders. The members have shared priorities that include identifying systemic opportunities for improvement along with relationship building at the campus level, so we can work together to ensure the MPS promise for students who receive special education services.

Our goals:

  • Ensure access to, and availability of, education and resources for parents and families of children who receive special education services.

  • Increase districtwide communication between stakeholders by sharing information and resources at the district and local level.

  • Increase inclusive opportunities for students and strengthen inclusive practices for educators.
