This is my 16th year in Special Education and my second year at MPS.
My husband and I are originally from Iowa (Go Hawkeyes!). We lived in Kansas City, Missouri for 20 years before moving to Arizona during the summer of 2016. In Missouri, I worked for two different school districts (Belton #124 and Lee's Summit R7). Both school districts were great places to work and allowed me to grow as an educator. The majority of my special education teaching experience has been with secondary students (grades 7-12).
I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Iowa and two Master's degrees. My first Master's degree is in Special Education from University of Missouri-Kansas City and my second Master's degree is in Transition Education and Services from the University of Kansas.
Currently, I am the district Transition Coordinator. I enjoy meeting with students and parents to discuss their post-secondary plans and helping them make that smooth transition to adult life. It's an honor to be a part of that process.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our dog Steve (yes, that really is my dog's name). We are avid motorcycle riders and golfers - when it's not so hot. I also volunteer with the Junior League of Phoenix and AZ Humane Society.
I am excited to be a part of the MPS family!
