Secondary Special Education Director
Mel Kelley is the Special Education Director for Secondary Schools and has been fortunate to work for Mesa Public Schools since 1996. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Arizona State University and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. She had several years experience teaching special education students at the secondary level, with a specialization in teaching students with autism and multiple disabilities. Mel then became a district content specialist, providing support to secondary special education teachers in the area of curriculum, materials, teaching strategies, and behavior supports. As the Secondary Director of Special Education, she provides support to the junior high and high schools within the district. She also supervises itinerant teachers in the area of Adapted Physical Education, Orthopedic Impairment, Traumatic Brain Injury and Transition Services. A Mesa Public Schools graduate, Mel is committed to serving the administrators, teachers, students and parents of Mesa Public Schools.
