Secondary Special Education Director
Mel Kelley is the Special Education Director for Junior High, High Schools and some of the Success Schools. Mel has been fortunate enough to work for Mesa Public Schools since 1996. She holds a Bachelor's Degree from Arizona State University and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. After teaching for several years at the high school, Mel was hired as a District Content Specialist, providing support to secondary special education teachers in the area of curriculum, materials, teaching strategies, and behavior supports. As the Director of Special Education for High Schools, Junior Highs and Success Schools, she provides support to schools and works with parents to understand the special education process. Additionally, Mel supervises itinerant teachers in the area of Adapted Physical Education, Orthopedic Impairment, Traumatic Brain Injury and Transition Services. A proud Mesa Public Schools graduate, Mel is committed to serving the administrators, teachers, students and parents of Mesa Public Schools.
