Biography

I have had the pleasure of teaching Adapted Physical Education in Mesa since 1995. I received my BS in physical education from Ithaca College and my MS in adapted physical education from SUNY Brockport.  In 2006 I received the Arizona Adapted Physical Education teacher of the year from AzAHPERD. In addition to teaching APE, I work as an International Classifier for the US Paralympics and WorldPara Sport. I spend much of my summer traveling around the US and world wide volunteering at track and field meets for the physically disabled.

I work with students at the following schools: Pomeroy, Sirrine, Summit Academy, Roosevelt, and Dobson High School. I am Department Chair and complete all the APE consults that are filled out for APE. I believe that each and every student is entitled to learn skills within the gross motor domain. During my teaching I also work on social skills, manners, and turn taking.

I enjoy spending my free time with my husband and twin 16 year old girls. On weekends, I can be found at track meets, soccer games, or Girl Scout events.
