Biography

I'm proud to be a graduate of MPS,  Eisenhower, Kino and Westwood were my stomping grounds K-12- Go Warriors!!  I graduated from NAU with a degree in elementary education and did my student teaching at Roosevelt Elementary.  I began my teaching career in 1991 at Booker T. Washington, where I had the privilege to teach for nine years.  While at BTW I taught 4th through 6th grades, what a great experience.  In 1996 I completed my coursework to earn a Master's degree in elementary education from NAU.

In 1994 Colleen Howard and I launched our first shuttle, the USS Bulldog, allowing fifth and sixth graders an opportunity to experience space without leaving school.  As soon as we completed that first mission, we knew we found our "hook".  The program continued to grow and expand with inter-school missions taking place throughout the district.

I have worked with the Science Department as SIM Specialist since 2005, offering the program to sixth graders district wide.  I enjoy sharing my passion for this project with a new group of students every day, and collaborating with the sixth grade teachers throughout Mesa.
