I graduated from Illinois State University in 1991 with a BS in Education and in 1999 from Northern Arizona University with a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. I have been with Mesa Public Schools since 1993 teaching 7th, 8th and 9th grade social studies and 8th grade ELP at Rhodes Junior High, with the past 4 years as a Secondary Social Studies Specialist and the Teaching American History Grant Project Director for the district. In these roles I organize and coordinate all grant activities, lead professional development, oversee curriculum/assessment development and maintain teacher resources.
Along with my work for Mesa Public Schools, I serve as adjunct faculty for the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education and am currently the Congressional District 5 & 6 Coordinator for Project Citizen. I am presently a member of the Board of Directors for the Arizona Council for the Social Studies.
