Extra Curricular Activities
ECA Logo

This past year parents and community members donated money to Stapley School in the form of a tax credit called the Extra Curricular Activities or ECA fund. ECA money must be used to directly impact and benefit students at Stapley and it can not replace or supplant anything the district already pays for to reach regular curriculum goals hence the name Extra Curricular Activities.

Stapley's 610 accounts include instructional programs include, Student Government, Band, Drama, Cheerleading, Chorus, Orchestra, Music, Yearbook, National Junior Honor Society, Photography, Home Ec., Journalism, French, Math, Science, Builders Club, Computer, Special Education, Reading, Media, Outdoors Club, Recycling, National Academic League, Technology, Fine Arts, Industrial Technology, English, and a few more.

Stapley's 620 accounts includes boys and girls General Athletics, boys Baseball, boys and girls Basketball, boys and girls Tennis, boys and girls Track, Wrestling, boys and girls Soccer, Softball and boys and girls Physical Ed. Each contribution must be used on the activity for which it was donated.

Highly engaging and quality activities at Stapley like Band, Orchestra, Photography, Drama, Video Production etc, are expensive to provide. Our Sports programming is top quality and also very expensive to maintain. Without the generous donations to the ECA account we would not be able to support the programs like we currently do. Two thirds of our Students are involved in clubs activities and a variety of after school clubs and other programming. A mountain of research continuously tells us that high student involvement in school activities is the strongest signal of a healthy junior high school environment. With your support we will continue to offer the activities that strengthen our school community.

Our Stapley students will soon enter challenging high school classes and then competitive college environments. A comforting thought regarding this competitive world rests in the knowledge that our Stapley students will be better prepared to handle these challenges thanks to our effective ECA programs. ECA expenditures are discussed during our SIAC meetings held the first Monday of each month at 4:00 in the office conference room. Please feel free to join us. If you have any questions about our ECA funds please call us and we will share more information with you.
