This year we have several students with severe food allergies, so no food is allowed in the classroom. Students may bring in water to class.
I will be emailing parents if I notice any changes in behavior or quality of work. I will also email parents if a student's grade drops to a C-. I also pick a few outstanding students at the end of every week to email their parents and let them know how well their student has been doing. So if you see an email from me, it doesn't mean that your student has been misbehaving.
MY MAIN CLASSROOM RULES
1) Come on time, prepared, and ready to learn.
2) Be prepared to actively participate with a positive attitude.
3) Treat everyone with respect.
4) Stay in your seats quietly while I am lecturing.
Students should bring these materials every single day unless told otherwise the day before:
black or blue pen
other colored pen
black or blue dry erase marker
loose leaf college ruled paper
5 subject notebook (notebook of knowledge)
Students violating these rules will have one or more of the following consequences:
loss of team points
parent phone call
sent to administration
I am very strict about having a quiet test environment. Any talking during a test will be considered cheating and the student will have their test taken away and be given a zero. The student will be sent to the office and parents will be notified.
No late work will be accepted without a pass. Two late passes are given each quarter for times when a student can't complete an assignment on time. However...
MAKE UP WORK
If a student is absent, they have as many days as they were absent to make up the work. The assignments are available in wall cubbies or in the absent binder. There is also a calendar and master notebook for the students to reference. If a student is missing more than 3 or 4 assignments, they will need to come in for lunch detention to make up the work. EVEN IF THEY FINISH ALL THE WORK THE NIGHT BEFORE they will still need to stay in at lunch as a consequence. I will not let students fail without a fight!
