WE ARE ONLINE LEARNING THROUGH CANVAS STARTING APRIL 6, 2020

Parents and students,

First off, we miss you and are thinking about you, we wish we could see you and we hope that you are safe and well. The district has posted information about how we will proceed due to the school closure being extended through the end of the school year. Read more about that here
We will begin online learning using Canvas on April 6, 2020. If you have computer and internet access please log into your canvas accountIf you have difficulty logging into your account, please call the help desk at 480-472-0044 before Friday, April 3.
We know that this can be a stressful time for students and families and we want to reassure you that we are aware that online school provides unique challenges for each family but we are here to support you and help you through these challenges. We have developed lessons that will enrich concepts students have already learned as well as some new concepts based on the Arizona Science Standards. All of your lessons will be accessed through your Canvas account.  On April 6 the course will open and students will have Monday through Thursday to work on their assignment(s) and on Friday the items for that week are due. All labs are optional. Students may work ahead if desired. We have provided a calendar to help you manage the assignments and due dates. All work will be submitted through canvas. We do understand that there are families with students and parents sharing computers and we can work with you regarding due dates if you communicate that with us in advance. If you have any questions about your lessons or assignments please email your teacher. All work must be submitted by Wednesday May 20.
If you do not have internet or a computer at home please let your teacher know so we can work on a plan for you. If you do not have internet access you may want to explore Cox's Connect2Compete low-cost internet program, which is offering 60 days free service for eligible families through May 15. For other internet provider information, please go to mpsaz.org/beprepared. The district is also exploring how to safely provide access to school WiFi for students.

Biography

I am so excited to be here at StapleyJunior High and to be part of such an outstanding team of teachers. We have wonderful students and our goal is to help them increase their achievement here at school.

I have been teaching Science for 13 years. I graduated from Ottawa University in 2004, with a degree in Elementary Education. I also attended Northern Arizona University and graduated in May 2009 with a Master's Degree in Multicultural Bilingual Education. I enjoy teaching Science and believe in hands on learning.

I have been involved in an engineering based program through ASU and worked with students to implement an afterschool program. Additionally I have been trained in AVID strategies in order to help individual students be successful with a rigorous curriculum and I apply those strategies in Science.

I am committed to helping each of my students meet their educational goals. I welcome parents into my classroom at anytime. I am excited to work with the great group of students that I have this year!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
