Science Online Learning Information: Begins Monday April 6th on Canvas
Please read the following information:
Dear Parents and Students,
First off, we miss you and are thinking about you! We wish we could see you and we hope that you are safe and well. The district has posted information about how we will proceed due to the school closure being extended through the end of the school year. Read more about that here
We will begin online learning using Canvas on April 6, 2020. If you have computer and internet access please log into your canvas accoun
t. If you have difficulty logging into your account, please call the help desk at 480-472-0044 before Friday, April 3.
We know that this can be a stressful time for students and families and we want to reassure you that we are aware that online school provides unique challenges for each family but we are here to support you and help you through these challenges. We have developed lessons that will enrich concepts students have already learned as well as some new concepts based on the Arizona Science Standards. All of your lessons will be accessed through your Canvas account. On April 6 the course will open and students will have Monday through Thursday to work on their assignment(s) and on Friday the items for that week are due. All labs are optional. Students may work ahead if desired. We have provided a calendar (PDF file is attached to this email) to help you manage the assignments and due dates. All work will be submitted through canvas. We do understand that there are families with students and parents sharing computers and we can work with you regarding due dates if you communicate that with us in advance. If you have any questions about your lessons or assignments please email your teacher. All work must be submitted by Wednesday May 20.
If you do not have internet or a computer at home please let your teacher know so we can work on a plan for you. If you do not have internet access you may want to explore Cox's Connect2Compete low-cost internet program, which is offering 60 days free service for eligible families through May 15. For other internet provider information, please go to mpsaz.org/beprepared. The district is also exploring how to safely provide access to school WiFi for students.
Stapley Junior High
Welcome to 7th Grade Science!
Hello Students and Parents! I will be teaching 7th Grade Honors and General Science this year! Go Sabercats!!
A little about me.....I earned my Bachelor's degree from Arizona State University in Conservation
Biology and Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. I worked with the Game and Fish Department before earning my
teaching degree. While working for the Game and Fish, I lived at the very
bottom of the Mogollon Rim and learned quite a bit about Arizona’s wildlife.
I have had the opportunity to participate in many things including raising
trout and tracking coyote with radio collars!
have experience teaching biology, earth science, physics and chemistry. I have taught both at the high school level
and the junior high level. I really love teaching all sciences and can't say that I like one over the other. What I do love the most is that science is always developing and changing, keeping it very exciting!
I am looking forward to sharing a very exciting year in science with you!
