Good Morning Students and Parents,
This letter/announcement is in regard students who are in any of Mr. Kramer’s classes:
· CB02 – Computer Essentials
· CB13 – Computer Graphics
· CB05 – Animation Studio
For the record I have never seen anything like this before in my lifetime, it’s totally unprecedented. However, we don’t want you missing out on learning opportunities. The Canvas courses you were enrolled in will continue and you may work on them at your own pace to the best of your and your computer’s ability. If you cannot complete the online work in Canvas, just do your best, you will not be punished or failed. It’s ok if you don’t finish. That being said, you can work on your previous work from last quarter and improve your grade if you like.
We know that as we begin working in this new learning environment (Canvas isn’t new for us but working remotely from home is), everything won't be perfect. It will take time for each of us to learn new tools, overcome technology challenges, work together without in-person interaction and just accept that school is different. We may not immediately have answers to all of your questions, but we will work diligently to find answers and communicate them to you. Everyone's patience and understanding will be critical to achieving success.
Email is still the best way to communicate with me. I am working remotely at home as well so my office phone will not be accessible. My goal is to be able to respond within 24 hours but those who have emailed me already know I respond way quicker than that. I have Webex Teams app currently and can video chat with that. I haven’t decided if I’ll use any other apps. https://www.webex.com/webexremoteedu.html#webex-for-students
All Classes: I will activate ALL the modules in Canvas for you to work on. You can access all the district resources/websites via Clever https://clever.com/in/mpsaz. Sign in with your student email address and password. Work at your own pace. No pressure. It’s still recommended you do the modules in order though. CB02 should still do 10 minutes of typing on Typing.com via Clever
CB02 Class: If you don’t have Microsoft Office at home on your computer, you can download it free of charge. Make sure you sign up with your school email address firstname.lastname@example.org and password. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/office
CB13 and CB05 classes: You’re going to need to download the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app onto your computer and install the apps we use. Make sure you sign in with your student email address email@example.com. The school district pays for the full license for you to use free of charge on 2 devices. Make sure you select “Enterprise” for school or company when you get around to signing in after you download the free trial.
· CB13 class uses Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop
· CB05 class will be using Adobe Animate and Adobe Media Encoder
All classes: If you do not have internet access in your home or another safe environment, please let your child's teachers know so they can provide alternative access to class materials. You may want to explore Cox's Connect2Compete low-cost internet program, which is offering 60 days free service for eligible families through May 15. For other internet provider information, please go to mpsaz.org/beprepared. We are also exploring how to safely provide access to school WiFi for students.
All classes: In the near future, we hope to distribute laptops to students who do not have access to any computer or tablet at home. Distribution will happen once we are confident we can keep everyone involved in the process safe. If your child needs a district laptop, please prepare by reading the student device handbook, and printing and completing the user agreement. If laptops will be distributed, details will be sent by your school. If you need a laptop from the district please reply to this email and I will add you to the list we have going.
I miss all of you and can’t wait to be in the classroom again.
