Dear Students and Parents,

I hope you are all healthy and safe.  My thoughts are with each of you every day, and I am looking forward to seeing each and every one of you again soon.  Please know that I am here for you if there is anything you need.

The district is providing multiple resources for you.  Elementary schools are providing meals; please check the district web site for more information.  Also, the teaching and learning staff is preparing a list of resources for students and parents.  Keep checking the mpsaz.org web page for updates.  If you know anyone without internet please let me know so we can provide other resources.

In the meantime, enjoy being with your family and know that your Stapley family is here to support you.

Up Coming dates:

It's hard to believe that the summer has come to an end!  I hope that you had some fun over the summer and got away from the heat for a little while.  We have all returned to work hard in the up coming year.  I have a lot of fun plans for us this year and promise we will learn along the way, too.   The units will include:  grammar, writing skills using Step up to Writing and the Six Traits, AVID strategies, paragraphs, essays, poetry, short stories,  and a novel study.  All of the units  in ELA and Reading will contribute to improving each student's reading, writing and speaking literacy.

Now, I would like to share a little about myself with you, so we can get to know each other better.    I was born in Dallas, Texas and lived in Minnesota, and finally to Illinois where I grew up. I have a son and step-son( my free spirit). My son is married and has two children Maddox  and  Liahona.  I also have a step-daughter who has two children also Avery and  Mason.  This does not mean my house is empty, I have a menagerie of animals, a standard poodle Captain Sully, a yorkie-poo Oliver and a cat Lucy.

I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. I have an emphasis in language arts, Spanish and middle school. I have my masters in secondary education at NAU with an emphasis in reading.   I have taught for 20 years at Stapley teaching various levels of ELA, Reading and AVID.  I am very excited to be here at Stapley Junior High.  This is an awesome school with an incredible staff.  I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with all of you.

I want to work with you to be a positive influence on your family.  If you suspect there may be a problem, have questions or special concerns, please contact me.   Email is the easiest and most efficient way to communicate for common issues.

Sincerely,

 Mrs. Sarbo
