Parents and Students,

I hope you are all healthy, safe and doing well. Thank you for your patience during this time as new lessons and materials were created so we could move to online learning. Our first week of online learning is set to start this Monday April 6th!

·       Students will be using the Canvas course and Big Ideas websites. Students should be familiar with these two websites as they have used them throughout the year. Hopefully they have already tried logging in at home and everything went smoothly. If for some reason they run into trouble accessing these from home next week, please have them email me.   Both websites can be accessed through a smartphone, tablet, or computer. The district will not be able to safely distribute computers so if a student is not able to access the internet, contact me and we will figure it out.

·       The learning for the week is set up so that all four lessons for the week will be posted on Canvas every MondayEach day has a small pre-recorded video lesson and short assignment. The goal is to have students finish the week’s material by end of day Sunday but have flexibility as to when during the week they complete the assignments. They should not wait until the end of the week to begin. I have tried to be conscious of the time students will need to be on the internet to complete the material. The goal is that all video notes and assignments for the entire week should be able to be completed within 90 minutes. If students have questions regarding the assignments, they may email me, send me a “Remind,” or join my Zoom video conference.

·       I will have optional online conferencing available for students with questions every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at certain hours. These video conference times and login links/meeting ID#’s, will be posted at the beginning of the week in Canvas.  Students are not required to do this video conferencing; it is intended as an option for students with questions on the material being taught.

Thank you so much for all your support at home during this transition to online learning. I am still available by email, phone, and Remind for any questions you may have. I look forward to starting this new adventure on Monday.

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I am excited to be your child's Pre-Algebra teacher.

This will be my 19th year teaching and my sixth at Stapley Jr. High. It is an honor once again to be a part of the Stapley Junior High Team. I graduated from Northern Arizona University and though Flagstaff was beautiful, it is great to live in a warmer climate.  Born in Ohio, I have lived most of my life in Arizona, including Prescott, Flagstaff, Tucson, and the Phoenix area. My husband and I have resided in Mesa for the past 18 years and consider it home.  In my free time, I enjoy running, mountain biking, spending time with friends and family, playing with our dog, eating ice cream, and traveling.

I look forward to a fantastic year together!
