Student of the Month Awards speak to what Mesa Public Schools is all about — helping the youth of our community achieve their personal best and celebrating their success. The school board and superintendency initiated the district's Student of the Month program to recognize the outstanding achievements, attitudes, activities, qualities and contributions that make Mesa students special.
Principals and teachers at up to six campuses each month take turns selecting elementary, junior high and high school winners who step above and beyond their many outstanding schoolmates in any number of ways. Winners exemplify effort and achievement in academics, the arts and athletics; peer leadership
; contributions to campus and community life; a positive attitude; perseverance and motivation; a love of learning
; caring, kindness, and treating others with dignity and respect.
Each month, families, friends, principals and teachers join district officials in the Board Room for the award presentations. As students are called to the podium, captivating videos and tributes highlight their accomplishments. To commemorate the evening, winners receive plaques, tributes and photos from Mesa Public Schools. They receive $25 Barnes and Noble gift cards from the Mesa Foundation for Educational Excellence. The district displays framed Student of the Month photos on walls of honor in the Board Room at the Curriculum Services Center and in the lobby at the Administrative Services Center.
Students of the Month are shining examples of how high expectations are paying off for students throughout Mesa Public Schools. Please join us in looking forward to their continuing success.
