Biography

Hi! I’m Julie Cohen, Specific Learning Disabilities Teacher. This is my 32nd year in Mesa Public Schools and I'm so excited to be part of Summit Academy. This will be my 6th year on the Junior High Campus. I'm so happy to be back this year supporting kids in reading and math.

I am an Arizona native, growing up in Tempe and Chandler. I was a member of the first graduating class of Dobson High School.  Go Mustangs!  After that, I headed to Tucson to the University of Arizona where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master's in Special Education.

I am married and have one daughter who is a Summit alumni. She is currently a sophomore at UCLA. When I'm not teaching, most of my time is spent with my family. We love to travel, go to the zoo, read, and try out new recipes.

This summer we traveled around the country and visited 13 different zoos and/or aquariums. This is my daughter petting & feeding a rhino. We also did some white water rafting. I'm the one with the sun glasses & purple helmet. Ask me about it!
