Mr. Wilson will be playing in his band, the Arizona Wind Symphony, tomorrow night at the Tempe Center for the Arts at 7:30. We are playing a number of Arizona themed pieces, and also the very cool piece written by Robert W. Smith that features Mr. Wilson several times on Euphonium. Many of our students go on to high school and participate in the Academy Drum and Bugle Corps. The Academy is a wonderful no-profit organization that is in the running for a grant up to $250,000. Right now they are in third place which would net them $100,000 in grant money from Chase Bank. They are only ahead by a few votes. Please help out, pass the word on and vista www.voteacademy.com to help out and read more information. Voting is done through your Facebook account. This ends 11/22 (that is tomorrow)!

Thanks to all those 4th-8th grade students that participated in the Jog-A-Thon this year! We had a blast at both the 2:40 (ES students), and the 4:00 (JH students) Jog-A-Thons. Thanks to all those parents brave enough to help out today as well. The weather stayed "nice" enough to be outside for the 2:40, but we had to move the 4:00 into the Gym due to a weather warning. Again, thanks to everyone that participated in the 2011 Jog-A-Thon. Running in both the ES and JH made Mr. Wilson tired....time for either a nap of bed....oh wait... I have a 4 month year old :) BW

On Friday November 4th, our 4th-8th grade music students will participate in our annual Jog-A-Thon. Information on the Jog-A-Thon, as well as the donation/pledge sheet was sent home between October 26-28 depending on the class.

Tonight marks the first concert of the year! Tonight features: The Cadet Band, Cadet Orchestra and The Intermediate Band. As per the handbook received on the first day of school, students should arrive no later than 6:30 pm. The auditorium will open just before that, and the concert will start at 7pm. Students should be in full uniform when they arrive: Black Pants, Black Shoes and their Red Summit Academy Band Polo which they should have ordered and purchased. December 31st is fast approaching, and the window to donate your Educational Tax Credit to the Band is coming to an end. When Making a Donation Online, or on an ECA Card, make sure you choose Summit Academy BAND. Money from Tax Credits will be used for instrument purchase, music, clinicians and other materials that directly help the Band. Check out this LINK for more information as well as to donate online. Mr. Wilson will be soloing with the Arizona Wind Symphony on April 14th at the beautiful Tempe Center for the Arts, performance starts at 7:30pm. Come see Mr. Wilson perform Carrickfergus, a beautiful Irish folk song for Euphonium and Band. Other pieces to be performed are: Silverado, South Pacific, Phantom of the Opera and much much more.
