Biography

Hello and thanks for visiting. I'm very excited to teach your child! I have a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from Arizona State University. I have been at Summit for 3 years, teaching a broad range of physical, social, and academic skills through structure and repetition. I enjoy connecting with students on a personal and educational level; seeing them master new skills as we work together. Outside of the classroom, I dedicate my time to my wife Jennifer and our two boys Chase (5), and Camden (2). In addition to teaching, I coach the Summit Baseball team.

Philosophy

I believe that physical education is a crucial component of a child’s curriculum and an important tool for learning, promoting, and practicing physical activity. Physical activity is vital for children’s overall health and physical education is the leading resource for helping children achieve the recommended 60 minutes of play a day. I am also a strong supporter of research that has shown physical education increases children’s ability to learn in the classroom and has a positive effect on test scores.

I am of the opinion that AVID is an amazing resource for students and that the curriculum helps teach organization, reinforce reading & writing, and promote inquiry & collaboration. AVID also creates a positive environment for students to grow and explore what they learn in their other classes.
