My name is Mrs. Kathy Woolsey-Burke, and I have been a Mesa Public Schools teacher since 1995. Before that, I worked in the Los Angeles Unified School District. I have taught all grade levels, K-8. I have taught in private schools, public schools, and have even been a private tutor for a major corporation. I was also a civilian employee for the Air Force working in Logistics and Launch Vehicle Support.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Southern California and a Master's in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. I also have a Language Development Specialist Credential, as well as endorsements in Middle School Science, English as a Second Language, Gifted and Reading. I have been a mentor teacher and master teacher for the State of California, and a Mentor Teacher for Mesa Public Schools.
I have a wide range of interests - traveling, hiking, horsebackriding, biking, and running. My husband and I are currently restoring a 1971 Dodge Challenger (340 6-pack) and a 1969 GTO Judge.
I am looking forward to working with your child this year. If you need to talk with me for any reason, please feel free to contact me. During school hours my phone will go directly to my voicemail, which I check throughout the day. I will return your message by the following day. You may also contact me by email. Weekly assignments and test dates are available by clicking on the link to the left. I am available to students after school, they just need to schedule an appointment. I realize everyone is busy, so occasionally I send home feedback forms in which you can address any concerns.
It is my hope that students leave my class with a realization of how science has, is and will impact their lives - and have had a little fun in the process.
